Amsterdam: The Dutch Government on Wednesday said that he would consider whether it was necessary to take new action after a quick gain in the Covid-19 case after the country’s pandemic locking ended.
“I think the sharp increase in the number of infections is the reason for asking for urgent advice from the outbreak management team”, Health Minister Hugo de Jonge told reporters in the Hague.
The Netherlands raised most of the locking steps on June 26, because cases fell and about two-thirds of the population had received at least one shot vaccination.
However, with bars, restaurants and nightclubs reopened, new cases in the country doubled to 8,000 in the week ended on Tuesday, July 6 on Wednesday, the health authority reported 3,688 new cases for the previous 24 hour period.
About three quarters of new cases occur among young people, De Jonge said.
The Dutch government made the vaccine available for the first time to parents, and most young adults and adolescents did not have the opportunity to get a chance.
