Ranchi: Among many complications found in patients following their recovery from Covid-19, neurological disorders have been diagnosed in a large number of people, according to health experts in Ranchi.
DCTORS almost regularly get patients with a number of disturbances such as those that range from mild cases of fibromyalgia (explained body pain) and hyponatremia (sodium deficiency) serious complications such as ischemic stroke (brain stroke) and GB syndrome (when attacking the peripheral nervous system immune system ).
Assistant Professor Neurology at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Dr.
Surendra Kumar, said that the case of the brain stroke between patients with Covid-19 history has increased rapidly after the second wave.
“We have noticed that people with ischemic stroke have a history of severe infections from SARS COV-2 viruses,” he added.
Dr.
Kumar showed that despite the number of patients who came to the government-owned hospital with disorders such as it had risen now, it could have something to do with the reducing variety of tourism.
“Previously, we got fewer patients, especially when covid-induced kuncian and travel restrictions were in place.
Maybe the patient cannot come to the hospital so that the number is less but since the restrictions have been appointed now, we get more than these patients, “he said.
City-based Neurologist Dr.
Ujjwal Roy said, “The problem is planting more on those with isolated themselves at home although very infected with a virus.
Those who claimed in the ICU were given anti-coagulants that prevented heart attack and brain stroke.
But people who are in the house isolation now come to the hospital with complaints of brain strokes.
We also have patients with GB syndrome and brain encephalitis (brain fever).
” He added, “In addition to severe nerve disorders, we also get mild cases of fibromyalgia, headaches, (tingling tingling at the fingertips) myopathy and sodium deficiency.
Unexplained body pain and complications related to sudden decreases in vitamin B-12 or sodium level have encouraged patients to seek medical assistance.
By undergoing a simple test and identifying the underlying cause, this condition can be treated.
” Dr.
Roy explained that most of these complications were related to the body’s immunogenic response to the virus.
“The patient even with mild symptoms of Covid-19 diagnosed with storm cytokines and the body’s response to it has damaged various organs, including the brain,” he said.
Some doctors in Rims have also observed the increase in quadriparesis cases (temporary or permanent weakness in all four limbs), bell palsy (facial muscle paralysis due to sudden damage to the face nerve and myelitis across), inflammation and rope spine damage.
Dr.
Kumar said that while some conditions could be triggered by infection, some could relate to too often using drugs and drugs recommended by semi-qualifying people.
“During the second wave of Covid-19, people are afraid and go to the semi-qualifying or shaman for treatment and they are prescribed drugs that can cause damage,” Dr.
Kumar added.
