New Assam Department to protect indigenous faith, culture

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has given approval to open the new department of faith and custom culture.
The government led by BJP has vocal against “Muslim migrant aggression” and the new department is likely to start its work with the top priority for some areas that are mostly affected by the entry, government sources said.
However, First Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma, however, said the “all indigenous religions” people would reap the benefits, including adivasis in Tea Gardens.
“Our tribal people have their own language and culture.
They have their own religious beliefs.
But official assistance from the government is lacking,” Sarma said.
Because they did not have large financial resources to collect donations to celebrate their religion, Sarma said the government had decided to preserve and protect their traditions with the necessary financial support.
He added that Bodo, Tea Tribes, Moran, Mishtock, Rabha, Mishing and other indigenous peoples who live in Assam will receive support from the department, including steps to promote traditional dance and music.
“Our cabinet has asked the Minister of Finance to make a substantial budget allocation for the department because this is a noble initiative,” Sarma said.
In another major decision on administrative and financial reform, he said the cabinet had decided that the Department Committee would approve the scheme worth Rs 2 Crore and below.
This will help officials make decisions faster to start new projects.
The Department Committee will be led by the department’s commissioner concerned.
Sarma said it would reduce red ribbons mostly because files do not need to go through tables in the fields of finance, planning and other related departments.
“Even without the approval of the concerned minister, the department can now start project planning under RS 2 Crore,” he said for projects between Rs 2 Crore and RS 5 Crore, Sarma said every Friday, a financial committee meeting chaired by the Secretary The main will be held.
“The resolution of the financial committee of survival will be an agreement for the scheme and documents will not be asked to be sent to the Ministry of Finance or Planning,” he added.
Sarma said for RS projects.
5 Crore to RS 100 Crore, there will be a special financial committee led by the Minister of Finance where the Commissioners will become members of the members.
This committee meeting was held every Thursday it was empowered to approve projects to RS to RSTs.
for each department.
But for more proposals than Rs 100-Crore, the department concerned will go directly to the cabinet to get approval.
“The document will not move around the table but it is the agenda to be discussed, reducing the red ribbon that we call bureaucratic obstacles,” Sarma said.
He, however, said that after approval for projects from the committee, this would go for the final nod the minister concerned.
