Patna: A woman allegedly killed because Mahar was almost not within 45 days of getting married in Bahadurpur on Patna on Saturday.
Bahadurpur Police Station Sanovar Khan said the deceased, Shruti Kumari (21), was married to Amit Kaushal of Rampur Road on June 20 this year.
“He was found depending on the ceiling fan with a scarf in his room,” he said.
He said Amit and his family get rent from shops and tenants at home.
Khan said the Shruti family would accuse that Amit, his brother, Raj Kaushal and his wife, father-in-law and his mother-in-law hung him after killing.
“They also alleged that he had been tortured to marry since marriage,” he said.
Sho said Amit had been detained and might be arrested.
“Other family members are avoiding catching.
Raids are above them,” he said.
Shruti Father Arun Mahto accused him that he used to tell him about his torment in the hands of Amit and his family members for Mahar.
“I’ve talked to him last night.
In the morning, we were told that he had committed suicide,” he said.
Mahto said when they got there, they found the door door locked from the outside.
“My descendants and the tip ring are scattered in the room.
The Amit family threatens us that his brother is a police sub-inspector and no one can endanger them,” he thought.
Khan said it was unclear whether Raj was in the police or not.
“A pine because Mahar’s death is being registered against Amit, Raj and other In-laws of Shruti,” he added.
