New cargo facilities at CHD airport to operate at the end of the year

Chandigarh: New cargo facilities will be operational at Chandigarh airport in Mohali at the end of the year, said Senior Leader Shiroman Akali Dal (SAD) Prem Singh Chandumajra.
With the opening of the facility, the area will be a hub for exporting fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Prof.
Chandumajra said he had taken a problem with Civil Aviation Union Jyotiraditya Scindia who had assured that cargo facilities were being built and will be completed at the end of the year.
The sad leader said the new facilities 12,127 square meters would encourage vegetable exports, fruits and flowers to the Middle East immediately and other parts of the world depending on augmentation of flights from the international airport.
“This will provide a big boost for agricultural diversification because of the lack of ports in the northern region of farmers find it difficult to export items that are easily damaged to other countries.
The integrated checkpoint function (ICP) in the wagah is also erratic and limiting goods to Pakistan only .
Now items that are easily damaged will be transported to the Middle East in a matter of hours that will increase farmer income and create more work and trade opportunities “.
He said farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will benefit from the opening of cargo facilities.
Prof.
Chandumajra, during his meeting with Scindia, also asked for augmentation of international flights from Mohali.
He said there was an extraordinary request from Punjabis throughout the world to add flights from Mohali and that the Civil Aviation Ministry must consider this demand sympathetic.
