Kolkata: New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) is developing a micro park in various places throughout a new city that was previously dumping waste.
The reason has been cleaned and placed with fertile green grass with puppies planted on the side and path along with benches for people to take a walk.
To use green technology in these gardens, NKDA uses pumps operated with solar power for gardening and watering purposes.
“These places used to throw reasons on the edge of the canal and in the backyard of the housing building.
Plastic waste, abandoned tires and garbage used to be thrown here.
More green zones like that appeared in the city as part of City City’s initiative,” said an NKDA official.
To change a greener city, ground spots in New Town – better known as green verges – adopted by NGOs and social welfare organizations to develop greenery and proper care.
Officials of the New Kolkata City Development Authority (NKDA) said that this green patch in the midst of concrete forests provides breathing space and helps maintain environmental balance.
There are around 40 green verges as in all cities and trees such as Neem, Guava, Coconut, Banyan, Morenga and others are planted in accordance with the suitability of the soil.
One of these organizations, the Mitti Day Foundation, has adopted six green verges in the field of action II and planted more than 6,000 different species trees.
The organization follows the Miyawaki method, the Japanese tree plantation method where different puppies species are planted close to each other because the trees grow faster.
“The purpose of adopting green verges is to increase greenery to combat climate change.
We use this Miyawaki tree plantation method and start the plantation starting March this year.
In eight to nine months, many trees have grown more than 10 feet.
The aim is to improve Plantation density.
We plant more trees, “said Suhrid Chandra, Chair of the Mitti Day Foundation.
“We have adopted the green threshold in the new City CC block and have planted more than 300 trees, including mahogany, Sal, etc., and some trees containing fruit.
We have planted 75 mango trees from various varieties.
Our aim is to protect and maintain Environmental balance by increasing green cover, “said Gautam Burman, Chair of the Mangalam Foundation, other social welfare organizations.
