Kolkata: After the New City Action Area I and II, Kota Baru Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) plans to establish four smarter bus stops near the St Xavier University campus and other spots from the III action area.

Authorities have begun the process of agents and interesting jobs is expected to start from February.
Smart bus stops or bus passenger shelters in the field of action I, have a modern look together with commuter friendly facilities, such as electronic display boards from timing buses, maps with directions to the nearest important location, seating setting with roof solar panels above, corner newspaper and snack kiosk.
The first smart bus stop in New Town was inaugurated in November 2020.
The authorities also developed several temporary stops to permanent facilities in various places of the city and also established abbreviations of cyclists to park their cycles for some time.
“The idea is to have smart facilities for passengers at this bus stop while waiting for the bus,” said an NKDA official.
Stand cycles are being arranged so that cycling to work to keep them safe in one place, he added.
Meanwhile, Hidco was trying to establish a third-foot pedestrian subway in Bangla Gate Crossing.
