Ottawa: Canada saw an average of 2.821 new Covid-19 cases every day on October 15-21, a 11 percent decline compared to the previous week, according to the Canadian public health agency on Friday.
Inpatient and trends for receipt of critical care, especially involving people who are not vaccinated, stable in the country.
The latest data shows that 2,367 people with Covid-19 on average are being hospitalized every day on October 15-21, which is 4 percent lower than the previous week.
This includes, on average, 723 people being treated in intensive care units, 2 percent less than the previous week, and an average of 35 deaths reported every day on October 15-21.
On October 21, 2021, Canada has provided nearly 58 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, with the latest data that shows that more than 88 percent of people are 12 years old or more have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine and more than 83 percent are fully vaccinated.
On October 16, 2021, more than 87 percent of people 40 years or more have at least one dose and more than 82 percent were vaccinated in full, while 83 percent to 84 percent of older adults aged 18 to 39 years have at least one dose and 75 percent to 77 percent is fully vaccinated.
When Canada approaches 90 percent of the qualified population has at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the country, Theresa TAM, Head of the Canadian Public Health, said on Friday that there was no perfect vaccine and there would be examples of suboptimal protection or a breakthrough case.
On Friday afternoon, Canada reported 2,754 new Covid-19 cases, increasing cumulative total to 1,695,914 cases, including 28,729 deaths, according to CTV.
