New Delhi: Covid-19 Fresh Cases in India rose 7% to nearly 2.64 lakh on Thursday, the day after the record increased by more than 50,000 has pushed the calculation of the day to 2.47 lakh.
Death of the virus remains relatively low but increases.
With data from Tripura which was awaited at the time of writing, 218 deaths were reported on Thursday, the second day in a row from 200-plus deaths.
The cumulative victim in the last seven days was almost doubled to 1,096 from 562 in seven days earlier.
India on Thursday has recorded 2,63,488 fresh cases until late at night, with the final calculation of the possibility of being close to 2.64 lakh.
Apart from Monday when the calculation is completely dipped, this is the first time during the third wave when daily growth in the case falls below 10%.
While Delhi (28,867) and Chennai (8,219) recorded the calculation of their new one-day case, Mumbai reported 15% in number.
Cases in Mumbai have increased sharply on Wednesday after four days before the decline that can indicate curve conditions in the city.
Some states, including Maharashtra (46,406), Punjab (6,083 cases), Jharkhand (4,000), Assam (3,238) and Himachal Pradesh (1,773), reported a slight decline in everyday case.
However, the case continued to surge in Karnataka, which reported 25,005 fresh infections, up from 21,390 on Wednesday.
Of these, 18,374 came from Bengaluru only.
Other countries where infections increased sharply including Tamil Nadu (20,911, up from 17,934), Odisha (10,059, up from 8,778) and Andhra Pradesh (4,348, up from 3,205).
Bengal continued to report a high number, 23,467 cases on Thursday, with Kolkata contributed 6,768.
Although there has been a slowdown in a covid surge in Maharashtra, death has increased steadily.
The state reported 36 deaths on Thursday, the highest daily toll road in several months.
Bengal recorded 26 deaths while daily victims in Delhi fell slightly to 31 of 40 the previous day.
Tamil Nadu recorded 25 deaths, Karnataka Eight, and Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Bihar respectively.
