New Delhi evacuated Indian-based staff from the Kandahar consulate as the Taliban advanced to the city

New Delhi: India evacuated all personnel based in India from Kandahar on Saturday night with special flights, when the Taliban advanced to the city, in the midst of battle and violence.
The Indian mission is now only manned by local Afghan staff who work for the Indian government.
For now, the Mazar-e-Sharif consulate is still open, and with Indian personnel, but it may not be too long when the Taliban swept western Afghanistan.
Embassy Kabul is the only one who is still fully functioning with Indian personnel.
The Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Rudrendra Tandon discussed the deteriorating security situation with the New Afghan Minister of Defense Bismillah Khan Mohammedia earlier this week.
The Indian government on Thursday shows that they watch the “careful” situation – and release India on Saturday.
India has closed its mission in Jalalabad and Herat in 2020, coving Covid, but it is clear that the security situation has played a role.
Apart from several assessments that were too optimistic by the US military forces departing, Afghan government security forces collapsed with a bare fight.
Taliban also played a smarter game this time – by controlling and closing the northern limits and on the Iranian side – to prevent formation growth such as the northern alliance to challenge them.
The security source here did not give Afghanistan more than a few weeks, before the Taliban controlled the whole country.
At this point, Islamic groups controlled more than 85 percent of Afghanistan.

The Afghan Taliban has activated his traditional support from between Pakistani terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Some Pakistani security forces have also been found, showing them fighting with the Taliban.
