New Delhi World Book Fair 2022 was postponed

New Delhi: The 30th edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), which will be held in Pragati Maidan from January 8, 16, has been postponed amid the increasing Covid-19 case in the national capital.
The new date for NDWBF, held online last year due to Covid pandemic, will be announced separately, he said.
It was first held in 1972, NDWBF planned to celebrate his gold yobel with a photo exhibition this year.
“Given the latest DDMA guidelines, and requests made by various stakeholders, the NDWBF 2022 has been postponed.
The new date will be announced separately,” said National Book Trust (NBT), the event organizer, in the statement.
To contain the spread of Covid, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Tuesday has decided to force a weekend curfew in the city.
The curfew will apply between 10 pm on Friday and 5 in Monday.
The main publication houses such as Indian Random House Penguin (PRHI) and Bloomsbury, which however did not participate in the upcoming book exhibition, have welcomed the decision of the organizer to postpone book exhibitions in the current scenario.
While Krishna Naroor, vice president (sales and marketing), Bloomsbury India, said they could see a delay decision in the midst of the current Covid situation; Nandan Jha, Senior Vice President (Sales and Product), Prhi praised NBT’s decision “on time and wisely” to postpone the event, considering the current developments.
“We have discussed in detail when advertising participation in fair came out last year and made a conscious decision not to participate because we were not sure how things would be revealed in the midst of this Covid situation,” said Naroor PTI.
“NDWF is a great opportunity for publishers to show off their publications, and is the right time to interact with customers in general …
so yes if it happens three-four months down and we see normal sense coming back, we may also participate, “He added.
That said, the announcement of a fair delay has come as a “little disappointment ” for some small publishing houses, such as Garuda Prakashan, who has a number of launch books and more than half a dozen writers planned to be fair.” The postponement of the book exhibition has come to us as A little disappointment, because everything looks better after a gap more than a year.
Such physical events always excite us and we have lined up several events with our author for this fair.
However, we must take it in our steps, such as, in the end, our health readers and all involved in organizing fairly more important.
We hope that, when things turn into normal, we will come back in a big way, “said Ankur Pathak, Director and Coo Garuda Prakashan.
