New excise policy: 552 liquor stores opened in Delhi

New Delhi: A total of 552 liquor stores, from 849 permitted fine, has been opened until January 28 under the new Delhi Excise Policy, the official source said.
The policy was implemented on November 17 last year.
The updated list of all functional liquor vends has also been uploaded on the Excise Ministry website.
Under the new excise policy, the liquor business in the city was fully handed over to private players where they could open 849 extensive and magnificent fines in 32 zones that had a total of at least 500 square meters.
Such outlets will also allow the facilities to run into consumers where they can choose their choice of alcohol brands as they do in shopping centers.
Delhi BJP, who came to power in three civil bodies – North, East and South – has opposed policies by accusing that liquor stores have been opened in norm violations.
The municipality has also launched hard action in liquor stores, which according to him was founded “illegally”.
According to the authority of the citizenship, until January the first week, three civil bodies have sealed nearly 25 stores and issued a notification of around 130 companies.
“Our crackdown for illegal liquor stores continues.
Yesterday, we issued a notification of several liquor stores for construction and violations of unauthorized norms,” said Chairman of the SDMC B Oberoi Committee to PTI.
The Delhi government has moved from the retail business of liquor under new policy through the privatization of all 849 vends of liquor, more than half is run by four previous institutions.
