Rajkot: Rajkot to get a daily flight for Bengaluru from January 16.
Indigo Airlines, which currently operates from a three-day flight a week, has decided to operate new flights on seven days looking at the passenger rush to the south city.
According to airport officials, they have received requests from airlines about schedules and airport authorities have also given them green signals.
According to sources, the relationship between Bengaluru and Rajkot is high because of the information technology sector.
Rajkot Airport is currently operating nine flights every day including four flights to Mumbai, three to Delhi, each to Goa and Letters.
Airport sources claim that there is also a request for flight connectivity to Hyderabad and several airlines Mulling to start this service during the summer vacation.
At present, only one airline operates to Goa but other airlines have justified interest in starting flight operations to tourist destinations from Rajkot.
If this is needed, one flight again can be added to Goa in the near future.
However, the airport does not have the capacity to handle more flights.
If more flights are added, the operation of all other flights will be affected if one flight occurs delayed.
