Paris: French teacher unions mention Monday for the second big attack this week to protest the testing protocol and government isolation, which they think are very disturbing to the class.
This step followed the Walkout one day last week who saw half of the country’s elementary school close, according to the trade union, which accused the authority to fail to build clear rules that would make students as much as possible.
The teacher said the class disruption has become not managed by the spread of the highly contagious Omicron Coronavirus variant, with many parents struggling to get a vaccination promise for their children and a long line for tests that form pharmacies.
Responding to the government promised to provide five million high-quality FFP2 facemask for school staff and to employ more than 3,000 substitute teachers to replace those who were forced to isolate after contracting Covid or touching with infected people.
But it is not enough for the union, which said the new attack on Thursday will be an introduction to the “massive” national walkout on January 27.
“The chaos produced from the handling of this health crisis requires strong steps, beyond the commitment carried out by the Prime Minister and Minister of Education,” a group of four unions said in a statement that was also signed by FCPE, the Federation of France’s biggest parents.
They want the government to hire sufficient substitutes to replace all absent teachers such as Covid cases spread rapidly throughout the school.
Children who test positive viruses must remain home up to 10 days while their classmates are forced to take three tests in four days.
The teacher also wants more personal protection equipment “far exceeds the promised amount,” and more fundamental investments in the French education system, where the average teacher pays behind many other European countries.
But the call for a new Thursday attack did not join other major union groups, including Snuip-FSU, the largest among elementary school teachers.
