New Delhi: India on Tuesday crossed a crore’s milestone for the second time within five days because it was given more than 1.28 doses of anti-covid jab until 10pm, hit a new high in vaccination one day and exceeded its own record before 1.03 Crore doses reached on August 27.
The increase in vaccination speed is mainly driven by supply improvements, while the center has also encouraged the state to increase inoculation coverage, especially that the second dose, especially after future celebrations.
While supplies are expected to increase further, the government estimates around 20-22 doses of crores in September and 25-30 other crores in October.
The last two months of this year is expected to receive 35 doses of each crore, a senior official said.
“Overall, around 185 crore doses are estimated to be supplied in December,” he said.
Until Tuesday morning, more than 64.36 crore vaccine doses were provided, including around 5.42 doses of balance and doses that were not used were available with the state and UTS.
In addition, almost 15 doses of lakh are in the pipe.
In August, around 18 crore doses were given, up from 13.45 crore doses given in July and 11.97 doses of crore given in June.
Overall, more than 65.26 crore doses were given until Tuesday 10pm, where 77% was the first dose.
At present, nearly 39% of the total state population has received at least one dose, while 23% fully immunized against Covid-19 with both shots.
While the government has prioritized 94 crore adults populations – considered more vulnerable in terms of death due to infection – for vaccination in December this year, around 53% of those aged 18 years and over have gained at least one dose vaccine.
With the increase in vaccination speeds supported by supply improvements, the government expects the majority of adult populations that meet the requirements throughout the country to be immunized with at least one dose in October.
