Ghaziabad: Agency hired to prepare detailed project reports (DPR) in the proposed multi-level parking lot near the Shaheed Stal Metro Station (New Bus ADDA) has sent documents to Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation.
The Civic body will now continue to the state government that is seeking approval.
According to the report, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 41.23 Crore and the parking lot will be able to accommodate around 750 vehicles.
“The construction and design service of Nigam Uttar Pradesh, who was asked to prepare the DPR, had submitted the document,” said an official from Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC).
“This will be a five-story structure that will be able to accommodate 200 four wheels and 542 two wheels.
The DPR will be sent to the state government for approval and after that, the work will begin in about two months,” the official added.
This project is funded by the state government.
“GMC should provide land for parking lots and we have identified 5,762 square meters near Mall Red, which is close to the Metro station,” the official said.
The Civic body aims to complete the project before the assembly of next year, said the source.
Previously, GMC had identified a plot near the Ambedkar Park for a parking lot.
But objections were raised by environmental lovers and local council members because the land was in some parks.
“Then we identified 20,000 square meters near the Red Mall and the area, 5,762 sqm would be used for parking lots,” officially added.
“This plot is close to the Metro Station and GT Road, some of the busiest areas in the city,” he added.
At present, Ghaziabad has a multi-level parking lot near the Vaishali Metro station and the others come near Indirapuram.
Parking near Vaishali, which opened in 2015, spread over 7,000 square meters and could accommodate around 520 four-wheeled.
This structure has succeeded in combining the area mostly and has increased demand to have other parts of other parts of the city.
“Unlike more planned Trans-Hindon areas, the city area has limited space and there is an urgent need for a parking lot here,” said Saineer Saini, a Ghaziabad resident who often went to Delhi.
“There is a Metro corridor here and the Rail Rail service will also begun.
Parking space will help reduce stretching,” he added.
