Wellington: New Zealand has recorded the hottest June since the recording began, because ski fields struggled to open and experts predict a shorter southern winter in the future.
Various factors that lead to records, including more winds that come from the north are lighter than the south of Antarctica, and extraordinary warm sea temperatures, said Gregor Majara, a climate scientist at the National Institute of Water and atmospheric research owned by the government.
He said weather oddity would change from month to month.
“ But the underlying trend is increasing temperature and overall heating, ‘said Majara.
The average temperature in June was 10.6 degrees Celsius (51 Fahrenheit), the research agency reported Monday.
It was 2 degrees C above average 30 years for June and more than 0.3 C higher than the previous record in 2003 and again in 2014.
Recording began in 1909.
Macara said the average temperature in New Zealand increased About 1 C of the last century.
He said that if the trend continued, people could expect a more sound and lighter winter, followed by springs before.
The situation places pressure on the ski field per week from when many students take their winter school holidays.
Snow cameras in several larger resorts showed open rocks and the earth sprinkled with snow dust on many things.
Some fields have used snowmaking machines to open a few walks while keeping another elevator closed.
Paul Anderson, Chief Executive Nzski, who operates a Coronet Peak, MT Hutt and extraordinary ski fields, remains optimistic.
“ We always like snow a little more on the ground, “he said.
“ But we have good snow arriving tomorrow, and then four or five cool days for making snow.
“Anderson said his company had adapted to changes in conditions by investing in equipment and snow lifts that could withstand strong winds.
“ It is very clear that climate change is a reality.
