Kathmandu: New Prime Minister Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday comfortably won the selection of self-confidence in a lower parliamentary house.
Deuba, the head of the 75-year-old Nepal congress, secured 165 votes in the House of Representatives 275, The Himalaya Times reported.
A total of 249 members of parliament participated in the electoral process and 83 of them voted against Deuba while a member of parliament remained neutral, he said.
A total of 136 votes needed for Deuba to win parliamentary trust.
Deuba took office oath and confidentiality on July 13 for the fifth record time, a day after a constitutional bench five members of the Supreme Court led by Cholendra Judge Shumsher Shumsher Rana returned the suspendous council for the second time in five months.
