Hyderabad: The sweeping change is expected in the next auction round for liquor stores, including a license for 200 stores again.
The auction for the next two years will be held in October this year, and the Excise Ministry is currently working on new policies.
The license of 2,216 existing liquor stores will end at the end of October this year, and auction must be held, officials said.
The Execution Ministry intends to develop new policies at the end of next month.
More than 80 new bars were allowed after the establishment of the country, but no one was opened for various reasons.
Because the number of licenses for liquor stores remained constant because of the beginning of the country, officials proposed this change by adding a license to 200 stores again.
These stores are mainly located in the new Mandal, city and regions, where more welds and celebrations are held regularly.
Another change that is considered is the increase in application costs to participate in auctions.
With a price increase, the auction is expected to produce around 1,200 crore at income.
During the 2015-17 auction, the application fee is Rs 50,000, which was raised to RS 1 Lakh in the next bidding round, and is now proposed to be raised to Rs 3 Lakh.
However, this suggestion was debated to see if it was worthy of the shop owner without increasing the cost of liquor.
Officials said they also saw the store license fee.
At present, there are four platees in place: Rs 45 Lakh, Rs 50 Lakh, Rs 80 Lakh, and Rs 1.20 Crore.
Officials looked into the proposal to increase license prices to 5% -8% in several regions.
“This is the initial recommendation; things can change, and maybe there or maybe not the price increase,” said the top official.
