Rajkot: The newly married couple drowned in the Narmada irrigation channel on Saturday after their car fell canal near Ghatila Village in Maliya-Miyana Taluka from the Morbi district.
The deceased was identified as Rahul Rathod (22) whose wife (22) was married eight months ago, police said.
According to the police, the couple left their village Ajitgadh in Halvad Taluka to Juna Ghatila in Maliya to attend the wedding function.
The police said that Rahul, who drove a car, lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and vehicles, which at high speed according to eyewitnesses, plunged into Canal.
Police said that Rahul managed to break the breeze of the car and the couple could come out on the hood and Shout to ask for help.
The villagers who worked on a farm nearby rushed to the place and even tried to save the duo by throwing a rope, but because of the strong water flow on the canal, the car with the couple was swept away.
The police can restore the woman’s body from near the place where the car plunged into the canal.
Herul’s body, however, find a little far late at night.
Complaints in this case was submitted by cousin Rahul Mehul Rathod with Maliya police, who were investigating this case.
