Trichy: Minister K n Nehru has said that the new vegetable market has been planned at the integrated bus terminal proposed in Panjappur, also indicates that it will not affect the existing market including the Gandhi market in the city.
“We will not interfere with the existing vegetable market, but the new wholesale and retail market is planned in Panjappur near the site proposed to the terminus bus,” Nehru said.
He spoke after inaugurating work on drinking water construction projects in the city on Sunday.
The work is being carried out under the Smart Cities mission at a cost of Rs 54.27 Crore.
The minister of city administration and water supply added that steps have been taken to carry out infrastructure projects needed for the city including bridges, new streets and new markets.
The Minister also inaugurated a new public parking line installed with a statue in Jallikattu in the North Bank Canal Uyakondan near Anna Uzhavar Sandhai Nagar, built at a cost of Rs 1.9 Crore.
The drinking water project will replace 40-year-old pipes in Thennur, Puthur, Thillai Nagar, Rockfort, Anna Nagar, Chellthamani, Marakkassai and Woreryur.
The work will be executed in seven phases and including the construction of four overhead water tanks and underground bah in two locations, scheduled to be completed before 2023.
The minister also initiated construction work for the new primary health center (UPHC) in Kulimikkarai Jalan 95 lakh to give Benefits for residents of Andakondan and Alwarthope.
In the delayed infrastructure project at City, Nehru told reporters that the authorities had estimated Rs 80 Crore for the new bridge across the Cauvery River as an alternative from the existing Srirangam Island.
“The minister’s chief personally conveyed to the Highways and PWD minister about the need for a new Cauvery Bridge for Trichy.
In addition, a new high corridor in Road’s card and the signal of the head office will be set,” Minister said.
