Chennai: Sales of liquor during New Year’s Eve in Tamil Nadu on Friday fell by Rs 12 Crore compared to 2020.
Alcohol marketed through Tasmac Liquor Shops recorded sales around Rs 147.7 Crore on December 31, 2021, according to the source of Tasmac.
By 2020, the total sales on New Year’s Eve are around RS 160 Crore.
The Chennai zone consisting of neighboring cities and districts witnessed the highest sales of Rs 41.4 Crore in the state, which was attended by the Madurai region that recorded sales to 27.4 crore RS tones.
New year’s night sales of liquor in Coimbatore, Salem, and Trichy Zones ranged from Rs 25.4 Crore to Rs 26.8 Crore.
