Dhaka: New Zealand on Friday called Pace Bowler Matt Henry to replace Finn Allen who was infected with Covid for their five international people in Bangladesh.
Allen, who is in quarantine in Bangladesh, will remain with the team, said Cricket New Zealand.
Henry was originally scheduled to take part in the next match in Pakistan but will now leave New Zealand on Monday for Bangladesh.
“Matt is clearly not a substitute for Finn, but he expanded our selection option and, in the current situation, is the best equipped to join a short notice,” said the head of the coach Gary Stead.
Stead said he did not consider New Zealand players who compete in English tournaments, because of the Isolation of seven days they would face upon arrival in Dhaka.
Henry said the call was “big opportunity”.
“I have played against Bangladesh for the past few years.
But they are in our condition, which is very different from what we will experience,” he said.
“Bangladesh is very strong in their last series.” New Zealand and Bangladesh will play their match behind closed doors at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on September 1, 5, 8 and 10.
