Wellington: New Zealand said on Wednesday that someone tested positive for Omicron Covid-19 variants had been briefly active in the community in Auckland.
The person arrived in New Zealand from England on December 16 but was only tested positive on December 17, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The ministry said the person was in the city of Auckland on December 26 and December 27, but they did not believe the individual was very contagious at exposure.
New Zealand does not have an omicrom case in its community and has recorded 17 cases in its border quarantine facilities.
