Wellington: The New Zealand police have shot and killed a man who hurt several people in a serious incident that took place at the mall in the city of Auckland, they said on Friday.
“The police can confirm that a man has entered a new Lynn supermarket and hurts many people,” they said in a statement.
“The police have found the man and he has been shot.
He died at the scene.” Radio New Zealand reported that at least four people were injured, but this had not been confirmed by the authorities.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is currently being directed about this situation, a spokesman said.
Online videos posted show buyers who panic run out of shopping malls and seek protection when the situation is opened.
The police and large armed ambulances were at the scene.
