Nagpur: Maybe the first formal meeting was held between Government Organizations (GO) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), at the office of the collector on Thursday, expanding the coverage of vaccines into the maximum population before the Covid-19 projection of the third wave took the middle stage, among others, .
NGOs are welcomed to be part of the ‘Kawach Kundal’ mission to be held throughout the country because it provides a boost to drive vaccination.
The mission will be held between 8 and 14 October.
The meeting was held in the background of the formation of the GO-NGO Coordination Committee at the district level to ‘connect’ better.
About 50 NGOs participated in a meeting chaired by C collector R Vimala flanked by the Collector of the Resident of Vijaya Bankar, District Disaster Management Ankush Gawande, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr.
Deepak Sheloko and others.
Vimala R said the meeting was driven by advice from the Disaster Management Department, the assistance and rehabilitation of the state to maintain more proactive and productive communication with NGOs during the crisis or other emergencies such as Covid.
Collectors say that some coordination and communication problems are discussed in which NGOs can participate more effectively.
“One of the problems that focuses on Roping in NGOs to increase vaccination drives,” he said.
He said adding non-governmental groups could be the best media to spread awareness about vaccination drives at the grassroots level.
During the presentation, Dho Dr.
Sheloko told 72% of the eligible population in the district had taken the first dose while 31% was vaccinated in full.
In Talukas, 68% have taken the first dose while 23% dose.
The coverage of the vaccine has been reduced from 29,011 on September 22 to 12,390 at 6.
October Kshirsagar Devendra KShirsagar Sahyadri said that NGOs had been urged to motivate people at the grassroots level.
“Vehicles for pregnant women and elderly will be provided for home pickup and drop but NGOs can play an important role in facilitating such drives,” he added that this district administration was aimed at including vaccines.
Gawade District Disaster Management Officers said NGOs could play the role of facilitators to help apply the government scheme and reach people.
“NGOs can play a multifaceted role between the government and citizens,” he said.
