NGOs to provide air beds to people with spinal cord injuries

Mangaluru: Seva Bharathi, Belthangady, through the initiative of ‘Seva Dhama’, is trying to provide air medical beds operated with solar power to poor patients who suffer a spinal injury, and those lying in bed with severe injuries.
This project is sponsored by the disabled association, and energy solutions are provided by Selco Solar Light Private Limited.
K Vinayaka Rao, 51, President, Seva Bharathi told Tii, “We have worked to lift people who suffer spinal injuries and those lying in bed for the past three years.” Vinayaka, electrical engineering diploma holder, in the room for almost four years, after he fell about 25 years ago.

Solar products from Selco cost Rs 45,000 and are equipped with a five-year warranty.
In addition to beds, patients can run fans and two lights, thereby reducing the burden of paying electricity bills.
The air bed is bought by Seva Bharati and repaired with Selco products.
We have sent a proposal to buy such eight products.
Two air beds operated by solar were handed over to Somesh Banakal from Banakal and Sheena rose from Mundaje.
According to estimates, there are at least 50 people who suffer pressure wounds and need air beds.
Furthermore, in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Uttara Kannada, there are at least 310 people who suffer a spinal injury and need rehabilitation.
“Seva Dhama followed up on these cases, and strives to provide livelihood support through the development of skills and help in the rehabilitation process, by providing equipment such as wheelchairs, pedestrians and the like, and ensures accessibility support at home, toilets and workplaces.
