NGT Makes panel to Check into Contamination in Varuna, Assi

Varanasi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has established a top power independent monitoring panel to check into the dilemma of contamination in rivers Varuna and Assi from Varanasi by release of untreated sewage and unscrupulous structures.
The problem was raised with a neighborhood urge, Saurabh Tiwari, at a grievance plotted into the apex surroundings watchdog.

The committee will comprise officials in the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), UPPCB, National Mission for sterile Ganga (NMCG) and district magistrate of Varanasi.

The analysis may cover standing on the water quality of Assi, Varuna, actions taken on recreation and treatment of sewer, water quality of upstream and downstream of confluence of both Assi and Varuna to river Ganga, demarcation of flood plain zones of Assi, Varuna and Ganga, in compliance with the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order, 2016.” He also added,”The actions taken account could be supplied by email.
