“The committee was directed at visiting the place and submitted factual reports within four weeks.
The Gujarat pollution control agency (GPCB) will be a nodal agent for coordination and logistics support,” according to the order of NGT.
The combined committee will include representatives from the Gujarat Department of Ports and Transportation, Gujarat Maritime Board officials (GMB), representatives of the Head of Forest Conservator and member secretary, GPCB.
Yardbuilding Yard in Sachana was founded in 1977 and the operation was closed in 2011-12.
By 2020, the state government gave a green light to restart the page after the problem raised by the forestry department related to environmental permits was resolved, said the source.
Experts claim that the page is under CRZ-1 A because it has critical habitat such as mangrove forests in the 500 metrd area.
