Ghaziabad: India National Highway Authority (NHAI) has decided to set the net and build additional water channels to prevent caves in the 32 km of Delhi-Meerut Expressway from Dasna to Meerut.
Stretching has seen a number of caves over the past few months, when it rains without stopping in Ghaziabad.
Nhai has received severe criticism, with the population questioning the quality of narrowing of the toll road portion that has been discarded only recently.
Officials said they planned a green topping on both sides of DME, where the net would be placed all the stretch to capture loose soil decline.
The number of drain shots will also increase so that rainwater does not accumulate.
“A number of caves of roads, both large and small, were reported in many places in DME, especially on stretching between Dasna and Meerut.
We have waited for rain down.
We have now conducted a survey and will immediately take adequate steps to prevent cave-ins , “said Arvind Kumar, Deputy General Manager in Nhai.
“We plan to compress the land on both sides of DME and place the net.
Green toppings will be carried out between nets,” he added.
In September, when a number of cave-ins was reported on the freeway, the NHAI project director, Mudit Garg, had admitted that there was a delay in taking land and work had begun in other parts of DME, leveling of the DME, land leveling was not done correctly.
Garg also said that the cave-in was a small nature and did not pose a threat to DME.
In addition to capturing loose soil drop, Nhai said it also took steps to check the accumulation of rainwater.
“The whole DME has been drying every 20 meters.
It helps us get rid of rainwater accumulates in DME through a pipe connected to the sewer under the toll road,” Kumar said.
“If water is allowed to accumulate, it spills and flows on the toll road, scrape the land on the road.
But now, we plan to build more waterways after analyzing the gradient,” he added.
Officials hope it will take a month to complete work.
