BHubaneswar: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) and Odisha’s head secretary to see the case of compensation to victims of rape from Malkangiri District and the steps taken by the state to examine, control and prevent crime against women within six weeks.
The commission passed this order on June 29 after hearing the petition, which was submitted by Radhakanta Tripathy Human Rights lawyer on August 14, 2017.
He alleged that a tribal woman was raped on the roadside in the extensive daylight near the MV-84 village in Malkangiri District at 9 August of that year.
The problem has been revealed after the video incident became a viral on social media.
He said the incident occurred when a tribal woman fell unconscious on the roadside, encouraged a tribe as a full crime committee.
There is no compensation paid to victims and video of a vile actions have not been stopped by the government, the applicant said in his prayer.
After the commission intervention, Malkangiri SP has submitted a report in this case on July 11, 2018.
