New Delhi: National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday issued a notification to the Government of Delhi, UP, Haryana and Rajasthan and their Chief of Police, on charges that the protest of farmers has “adversely impacted industrial units and transportation, and opposes covid safety norms on AGITATION SITE.
In a statement, NHRC said that it has requested the National Disaster Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health of the Union to submit a report in connection with “the adverse effects of farmer agitation in various aspects and obedience of Covid protocols in the location of the protocol.” The Commission also directs the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) to examine the adverse effects of farmers’ agitation of industrial and commercial activities and production, and transportation of transportation services to commercial and normal consumers, including discomfort and additional expenditure, among others.
This is to submit a comprehensive report on October 10.

“NHRC has received several complaints about the ongoing farmer protest.
There are accusations of adverse effects on industrial units, seriously affecting more than 9,000 micro, medium and large companies,” he said.
The rights panel said that transportation also had a negative impact, causing passengers, patients, disabilities and senior citizens suffering because of heavy traffic on the road where farmers sit in controversial agricultural law protests.
