New Delhi: NHRC has sent a notification to the Government of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajastan and their chief of police, on charges that the ongoing farmer protests have “adversely” industrial and transportation units, and Covid safety norms have been violated on the site agitation.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in a statement, said it has also requested the National Disaster Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health of the Union to submit a report in connection with “the adverse effects of farmer agitation in various aspects.

“NHRC has received several complaints about the ongoing farmer protest.
There are accusations of adverse effects on industrial units, seriously affecting more than 9,000 micro, medium and large companies,” he said.
Allegedly, transportation also had a negative impact, causing passengers, patients, disabilities and senior citizens to suffer due to large congestion on the streets occupied by farmers who protested, said the rights panel.
There was a suspicion that there was “violation of the Korona protocol by farmers who were nervous at the location of the protest”.
There was further suspicion that the population was not left out of their home because of the blockade of the part, he added.
There are also reports that people have to take a long distance trip to achieve their goals because of the ongoing agitation, and the barricade has been placed on the border of the country, he added.
Thus the Commission has issued a notification to the main Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi; And the Director General of Police, of the three states and Commissioners Delhi, asked them to submit their respective actions taken, the statement.
Because agitation involves human rights issues, while the right for peaceful agitation must also be respected, the Commission needs to take care of various human rights issues, the statement said.
