Bhubaneswar: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notification to the Odisha Chief Secretary of the poor, SC), scheduled tribes (ST) and other villagers in Murusuan, Chamakpur and the nearest villages in the district Basudevpur Keonjhar because of the Kanpur’s main irrigation project.
The rights panel passed the order on Friday after consuming the petition, submitted by the Human Rights lawyer and Tripathy Radhakanta activist.
The applicant accused that the state government failed to rehabilitate more than 5,000 displaced families who had been forcibly evicted from various villages for projects in Keonjhar District.
Tripathy accused that the local government destroyed their huts without neglected.
“These families were forced to live under the sky when the district government failed to conduct the right survey before destroying their homes.
I asked the commission to intervene in this matter,” he added.
The Commission has requested a report taken from the Secretary of the Odisha Head of this issue within four weeks.
The commission special reporter has investigated this problem in 2017-18 after Tripathy filed a petition before the NHRC.
