NHRC seeks action-taken report on Assam Physician assault

NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has taken cognisance of this alleged attack on a physician in a health centre in Hojai field of Assam and searched an action-taken report in the state authorities within fourteen days, officials said Friday.
A movie of the assault, that went viral about interpersonal networking, allegedly revealed that the doctor being attacked by a bunch of individuals, including girls.
“We’d received the criticism dated June 2in relation to the episode, and also the NHRC has taken cognisance of the issue and sought a report by the Assam government,” a senior officer told PTI.
The complainant, urge Sneha Kalita, also has declared that Dr.
Seuj Kumar Senapati has been”brutally attacked on June 1 from the walkers, after the passing of an individual experiencing COVID-19 and pneumonia in Udali Model Hospital at Hojai district”.

The NHRC, later taking cognisance of this situation, took actions on Thursday, ” the officer said.
“Permit a copy of the complaint be sent to the chief secretary, government of Assam and also the director general of government, Assam to possess the allegations asked, consider the needful preventative and punitive actions in the issue and also submit an action-taken report on the commission in a span of four months,” that the NHRC stated.
Furthermore, a copy of the complaint will also be delivered to the secretary, Ministry of Health, Government of India, to”initiate necessary steps to guarantee the security and safety of their frontline health workers in the nation,” it stated.
“The complainant has said that from the current pandemic scenarios, although the health employees are placing their own lifestyle, families and health in danger; all steps must be taken to make sure their security and safety,” based on the event.
She’s also asked the commission to deliver a group to get an”independent investigation” of the incident and also to deploy and supply adequate police safety in each hospital and Covid Care Centre to stop this type of violent circumstances, the NHRC stated.
Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday had stated that 24 people were detained for allegedly attacking the physician at the centre.
All political parties have condemned the incident and also requested the authorities to take strict actions against the offenders.
Hojai Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha had previously said that a seriously ill coronavirus-positive individual had reacted to this disease in Udali Covid-19 Care Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
