TRICHY: National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials have detained a 20-year-old guy in connection with a case of conspiracy to kill several Hindu leaders at Coimbatore at 2018.
The NIA detained A Mohammed Ashiq, 20, of Malakadai at Coimbatore from a poultry store at Needur close Mayiladuthurai about 2.
30am on Friday.
The Mayiladuthurai police helped the NIA group in arresting Ashiq who’d already been working and remaining at the poultry store for the last six weeks.
Ashiq had been taken to particular courts for NIA instances at Poonamallee at Chennai.
Police sources said that he had been the prime minister accused in a case filed by the NIA on October 30, 2018.
He had been among those seven individuals accused of forming a terrorist group together with allegiance to the proscribed terrorist organisation ISIS.
They were charged with a criminal conspiracy to kill several Hindu leaders at Coimbatore hence threatening the communal stability as well as the safety and sovereignty of the nation.
The court was issued a non-bailable arrest warrant from Ashiq.
