Taipei: Taiwan on Thursday vowed to take legal action against former Ally Nicaragua to “seize” his embassy and made a plan to move it to China after the American country was turning diplomatic recognition from Taipei to Beijing.
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nicaraguan government “won” his former embassy property that was already sold to the Archdiocese of Managua Roman Catholic.
Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega separated the relationship with Taiwan this month, saying it would only recognize the mainland government.
Before leaving, Taiwan’s diplomats tried to donate property to the diocese of Roman Catholic diocese diocese.
But the Orthega government said on Sunday that each donation would not be legal and the building in the upper-class Managua neighborhood belonged to China.
“There is only one Chinese,” Nicaraguan government said in a statement announcing changes.
“The People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government that represents all China, and Taiwan is a part that cannot be revoked from the territory of China.” The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Relations has condemned “illegal actions of the Orthega regime,” said the Nicaraguan government had violated the standard procedure by giving Taiwanese diplomats for only two weeks to get out of the country.
China, who claimed Taiwan as part of its territory, has increased the pressure to isolate international islands and Switch Nicaragua leaving Taipei with only 14 diplomatic allies globally.
It was the eighth country for Taipei trenches for Beijing since Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing – Wen served in 2016 because tensions between the two parties continued to grow.
China opposes Taiwan who represents itself in a global forum or in diplomacy.
Taipei condemned the Ortega government because it was planned to transfer property to Beijing, which called the “Justice Action” step.
“Taiwan will pursue the right international legal process to protect his diplomatic property and ensure that Nicaragua holds accountability for the wrong action of international,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It added that the seizure “is part of the explicit and aggressive intention of China to notify Taiwan, which seriously contradicts international norms and damages regional peace and stability.” China vowed to bring Taiwan to return to his fold one day.
