Lucknow: The day after the leader of the leading Sect Barelvi Sect Maulana Tauqeer Raza announced his support for Congress, his former daughter-in-law and one who was suspected of being a victim of the instant Triple Talaq, Nida Khan, joined BJP on Sunday.
Khan joined the party before the former Head of BJP and the Chairman of the Committee joined Laxmikant Bajpai.
The former BSP Mla Shivcharan Prajapati also joined the Safron Party along with his supporters.
“Women are safe under the BJP government,” said Khan, who once called the Secretary General of Congress Priyanka Gandhi as his sister.
He insisted that the BJP fight against Triple Talaq took him closer to the party.
He said that the criminalization of Talaq Talaq was instant has reduced the trial of Muslim women for the most part.
“Previously, when I was running an institution, the usual woman visited her three times or four times a week and confided they were given a triple talaq by their husbands about trivial problems,” he said.
Induction of Khan, analysts said, could arm BJP to blunt aggressive opposition, especially in the West and Rohilkhand regions who went to polls in the first three phases.
He took swipe in the congress who said that the party gave the name of the campaign ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon, but did nothing for women’s safety.
This came after the face of the Congress campaign, Priyanka Maurya, defected the Saffron camp.
Nida is the ex-wife of Sheeran Raza Khan, son of Usman Raza Khan from the Hazarat clan from Bareilly.
Usman Raza Khan is the older brother of Tauqeer Raza Khan.
Sheeran divorced Nida through Talaq instant triple in their one-year marriage.
But Nida conducts a court battle on this and also becomes an activist, expanding assistance to other women.
