‘Tum Bin’ completes 20 noble years today.
How do you look back at the film today? I feel proud and bless that I am part of an unforgettable film like ‘Tum bin’.
This is the experience that I appreciate from the bottom of my heart.
There is so much trust, love, and affection between us all.
Bhushan Kumar has full trust and faith in our abilities and Anubhav Sinha is also in great spirit.
Bring us to time when you first approached for the film …
After the success of the music album, ‘Jaan’ with Sonu Nigam, Bhushan Kumar decided to make a romantic film, who would have good songs.
At that time, we composed songs for several other projects.
He told my partner faiaz anwar and me to do the songs ‘tum bin’.
Anubhav Sinha tells us and tells us about situations that need songs, and we are a game.
Are there interesting anecdotes behind the making of songs? We give three choices to filmmakers on each song we are working on.
When Faiz Anwar wrote ‘Choti Choti Raatein’ and we compiled a melody, Bhushan Kumar immediately ordered a song for ‘Tum Bin’.
Our song, ‘Tumhare Siva’ became part of the title of this film song.
The song, ‘Koi Fariyad’ has a very mature lyrics and tones, so we decided to use the Jagjit Singh as a singer.
When we composed the title song, ‘Tum bin Jiya Jaaye Kaise’, we decided to Dub Chitraji as the main singer because he had a unique voice, and it would be in accordance with our actress Sandali Sinha.
Sonu Nigam Sung, ‘Choto Choti Raatein’ and ‘Meri Duniya Main Aakes’ While Shailaja Subramanuim sang a woman’s part.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya Sung, ‘Pyar Humko Hone’.
There seems to be some divine intervention in this project as if God helped us.
All the film songs are Chartbusters and loved even today.
What do you think makes songs relevant even after 20 years? Songs are still relevant and remember today because of us, as composers, given full freedom.
Bhushan Kumar trusts us, and Faiz Anwar.
Even though he was new, he gave us free hands.
We store melodies on all songs.
In the long run, good lyrics and working melodies.
We are very careful about seeing that the orchestration is in accordance with the situation of the songs.
Even though we modernize music orchestration, we use original violins and instruments to highlight songs.
The songs were properly displayed by Anubhav Sinha in Panavision.
The script and the storyquire make a lasting film.
Of all the songs in the film, which is the closest to your heart and why? ‘Koi Fariyad’ is closest to my heart because if you hear it correctly, it’s all about true love and true feelings that must be revealed.
The song was extraordinaryly written by faiaz anwar and we set the song as needed.
‘Koi Fariyad’ is a song for ordinary people and Jagjit Singh put his soul into the composition.
Every word he sang came from his heart.
That’s why it’s still eternal.
Anubhav Sinha triggered very well at Priyanshu Chatterjee and Sandali Sinha.
What is the best compliment you have received for songs in ‘tum bin’ and from whom? The best compliment I received was when I got a festive applause from more than 5000 people in Australia for songs, ‘Tum bin’.
To this day, people call me and praise me.
The music is remembered even today.
