New Delhi: The government on Monday appointed the chairman of Infosys Nandan Nilakani and CEO of National Health Authority R S Sharma on the Nine Member Advisory Board for an open network for digital commerce (ONDC).
Nilekani and Sharma have worked together in Indian unique identification authorities, when Aadhaar is formed.
The department for industrial promotion and internal trade, which has begun working on ONDC, has assigned the Indian Quality Council with the project.
Some advisory panel members have been appointed last year.
“ONDC aims to promote open networks developed on open source methodology, using open specifications and open network protocols regardless of certain platforms.
ONDC is expected to digitize all value chains, operating operations, promoting supplier inclusion, obtaining efficiency in logistics and increasing value for consumers , “The official statement said.
The presence of several members in the panel, however, did not go down well with e-commerce players.
For example, the Chairman of QCI Adil Zainulbhai was at the Reliance Industries board, which built a large e-commerce empire.
Likewise, Cait Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal is a vocal criticism of foreign players such as Amazon and Flipkart.
The panel also consists of Anjali Bansal, Chair of the Founder, Avaana Capital; Arvind Gupta, Co-Founder of Digital India Foundation; Dilip asbe, MD, NPCI; Suresh Sethi, MD, NSDL and Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Indian retailers associations.
