Udhagamandalam: Nilgiris district administration has launched the steps to handle the estimated third-19-19 wave.
Administration detained 19 existing Covid care centers, said Nilgiris collector, J innocent Divya.
“We hold Covid care centers again as precautions.
Periodic fumigation is done to remain ready.
Also, 1,000 longer beds are being established in six new Covid care centers in all districts.” At present, this district has 2,474 beds, including 500 in goverment hospital.
As part of the size, the collector has written to the government seeking appointment of doctors and specialists, especially pediatricians in empty posts and additional posts in government hospitals.
“It is widely reported that the third wave can affect more children,” said Divya.
Five government hospitals in the district are being installed with oxygen generators so that the district becomes independent in oxygen supply.
“With a capacity of 500lit / minute, the oxygen generation unit began to function a few days ago in a long time of medical college and Ooty government hospital,” said Divya.Lenda, this facility was provided for government hospitals in Kotagiri, Coonoor, Gudalur, and Pandaur.
While Kotagiri and Coonor GHS will have a unit that has a capacity of 500 liters / minute, gudalur and Pandarur GH will produce 250 liters of oxygen per minute.
While the oxygen unit in Ooty GH is funded by the government, those in other GHS are sponsored by private donors.
“So, we will be an independent district when it comes to oxygen supply,” said Divya.
“Vaccination is the best shield.
But the main objective increases vaccination efforts, which can play an important role in mitigating future viruses and waves.” Minister of Health MA.Subamanian, who visited Ooty on June 6, has promised to prioritize small districts such as.
Nilgiris to complete vaccination.
