Salem: The Salem Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Wednesday allocates nine regions in the city where more than 10 Covid-19 cases are reported as detention zones.
According to an official from SMC, Kitchipallayam, Narayana Nagar, Fortress, and Gotai are among the areas declared as detention zones in the city.
District reports at least 40 to 50 cases every day and from them 20 comes from the SMC limit.
A total of 95 Covid-19 patients were being treated at a government and private hospital in the city.
Corporations make arrangements to provide important commodities such as vegetables, milk, and drinking water for people who live in the detention zone.
The Civic body also often observes areas to avoid further deployment.
Doctors and nurses from the Ministry of Health have established camps in the detention zone to collect swab samples from residents.
