New Delhi: The third highest Galantry Medal Shakra Shakra has been given to five army soldiers, an Assam Rifles Jawan and six CRPF personnel – nine of them positively – in the Republic’s award today.
Shaurya Chakra Receiver from the army, who all put their lives while killing terrorists in the operation of counter-rebellion in Jammu and Kashmir, is Naib Sreejith M (17 Madras), Havildars Anil Kumar Tomar (Rajput / 44 Rashtriya Rifles), Kashiray Bammanlli (Engineer / 44 RR), pinku kumar (jat / 34 rr) and sepoy maruprolu jaswanth kumar reddy (17 madras).
The CRPF receiver, which was annually, was the Chief of Police Ajeet Singh and Kuldeep Kumar Urawan, Constable Vikas Kumar and Purnanad.
The other was the commander of the Malik Diliped Company and Assistant Commander of Pratap Singh’s Anirudh.
Rifleman Rakesh Kumar of 5 Assam Rifles has also been awarded a medal for counter-rebellion operations in Assam.
Despite the highest medal Chakra Ashoka and Kirti Chakra the second has not been awarded in the overall 384 galantry and another award list this year, three have been given with the Sena medal for the second time.
They are majors Bharat Singh Jhala (JAT / 34 RR) and Jagtar Johal (Rajput / 44 RR), and Havidar Naseer Ahmad Mir (Territorial Army).
Four senior officers, including 14 corps commanders earlier at Ladakh, Lt-Gen P K Menon, had received a medal of Uttam Yudh Sena.
The other is LT-Gens D P Pandey (15 Corps), Ravin Khosla (4 Corps) and Johnson P Mathew (3 Corps).
