KANPUR: Nine peacocks were found dead in Auraiya’s Takia village on Sunday.
According to officials, seven female and two male peacocks were found dead in the fields near Takia village under the limits of Erwakatra police station area.
Investigations to find the cause of the death of the peacocks are currently underway.
Authorities are trying to investigate if the peacocks had eaten anything poisonous or if they died due to some unknown disease.
Meanwhile, irated villagers claimed that the peacocks were killed for feathers.
District veterinary officer Dr Narendra Kumar Gaur said, “We are investigating all the aspects with regard to the death of nine peacocks.” “ Also, we are awaiting the autopsy report of the birds before reaching any final conclusion,” the district veterinary officer told TOI.
