NEW DELHI: Adhiraaj Sejwal was infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus as was his whole family. When recovering from the disease, the nine-year-old watched his loved ones fighting for medications, oxygen concentrators and, specifically, to find a hospital bed because of his grandmother. When he eventually fought the disease, Sejwal’s one goal was to assist those distressed by Covid. Since he was studying chess for the last two decades, his very first hotel was the game. With the help of his trainer, he ordered an internet tournament. Sejwal managed to accumulate Rs 51,000 through contributions, and he steered the amount to Hemkunt Foundation, a relief firm which has established oxygen langars and Covid maintenance centers. We didn’t charge any entrance or registration charges,” explained Sejwal, a pupil at Amity International School in south Delhi’s Saket. “It was around the participants to contribute any amount they desired to. Of the 100 who participate in the championship, 25 made these donations.” The contributions ranged from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000.
