Thiruvananthapuram: The Nirbhaya shelter home for women and kids in Poojappura will get a facelift.
As reported by a government order issued in this respect, Rs 15.50 lakh was allocated for the renovation of the shield dwelling, which began working in 2013.
“Although the construction that houses the shield home appears secure, the roofs are leaking and baths are in a untidy condition.
Additionally, the inmates do not have a suitable space to wash their clothes.
Considering these issues we had suggested a strategy and we hope to commence the functions without much delay,” explained Nirbhaya Cell state planner Sreela Menon.
Included in this renovation, the officers intend to build new toilets and also to prevent congestion they’ve opted to construct a new dormitory, by linking two chambers.
Another area will be built as an amusement area, broken doors will soon be replaced, and a new dining room will be supplied with desks and chairs.
So as to guarantee area to dry clothing, roofing is going to be carried out in a little part and the construction is going to be painted.
According to officers, no more significant revamp of this construction has been completed since 2015.
Nirbhaya shield houses under Kerala Mahila Samakhya Society was established from the division of justice to home the victims of both sexual abuse and human trafficking.
