New York: Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman has highlighted the need for international financial architecture to fight Covid-19 pandemics around the world and emphasize the need to keep the supply chain open for vaccine raw materials.
Sitharaman, participated in the 36th Annual G30 international banking seminar virtually on Sunday, talking about the panel on Sommons financing, climate and pandemic, the Ministry of Finance tweeted.
He “stressed on focused mobilization and #equitablelocation Financial and #TechSolutions to successfully utilize the global #commongood of #Climate and #Pandemi security,” he said.
Sitharaman highlighted the need for international financial architecture to combat Covid-19 pandemic throughout the world and support the need for new financial instruments to focus and encourage advanced green initiatives.
He underlined the need for the World Health Organization (WHO) to be strengthened for a more effective response to new challenges.
He emphasized the need to keep the supply chain open to vaccine raw materials, the ministry said.
Then on that day, Sitharaman discussed the meeting of Indian women’s businessmen in New Jersey, where he spoke of strong Indian economic recovery and the road in front and the opportunities offered by India to the world.
Sitharaman arrived in the US on Friday after his visit to Washington DC where he participated in the annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
He started a long visit in the US with a trip to Boston, where he met the CEO, discussing the Douillable Investor and Executive meetings and spoke to students and faculties at Harvard Kennedy School.
India, the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world as a whole, suspended the exports of the Covid-19 vaccine in April to focus on its own population inoculation after a sudden surge in infection.
Last month, the health minister of the Union Mansukh Mandaviya announced that India would continue its inventory abroad.
India said that it would continue the exports of the Covid-19 surplus vaccine in the fourth quarter of 2021 under the “Vaccine Maitri” program and to fulfill its commitment to the Global Covax pool.
Covax is an initiative throughout the world aimed at fair access to the Covid-19 vaccine directed by Gavi, the vaccine alliance, coalition for the innovation of epidemic preparedness, and WHO.
