Nit Readies 125 Playgrounds to Improve Sports Culture in the City

Nagpur: For the first time in the history of the city, the Nagpur Infrement Trust (NIT) has prepared 125 playgrounds with sports infrastructure in a road.
The Civic Agency is now set to submit this playground to the sports association, club or NGO for operation and maintenance (O & M) for 10 years.
Realizing the need to play more with the right infrastructure considering the typical experience of Krida Mahotsav, starting to promote sports talents, members of the City Parliament and Nitin Gadkari Union Minister have proposed projects.
Following suggestions in 2019, the chairman of Devendra Fadnivis has gave sanctions RS50 Crore and appointed to carry out developmental work in 150 playgrounds.
In 2019, a team led by the former Mayor of Sandip Joshi, who was also the Typical Coordinator of Krida Mahotsav SS Gujjelwar, executive engineer Sanjay Chimurkar, Nagpur Municipal Corporation Officer Sports Piyush Ambulkar and the others have identified 146 playgrounds for development.
An Official Nit told Toi, “Now, working at 125 playgrounds has been completed.
Similar works cannot be done in 21 playgrounds left for various reasons.
Nit has invited applications from sports associations, clubs, NGOs etc.

They need to give RS10,000 guarantee.
“The official added that the selected applicants could do more development work in the playground, recovering costs from sportsmen.
They will not be asked to provide any income to Nit.
“However, those who manage this playground must make them available every time the initiative like a typical Krida Mahotsav is done.
They also have to allow local residents to recreational activities,” he said.
As part of the project, Nit has built a compound wall in the playground, which is not guarded before.
There are repaired compound walls anywhere needed.
The walking and running trajectory has been developed followed by changing rooms, toilets, shop rooms, etc.
Cricket pitch, cement court for skating, basketball, volleyball, arena for kabaddi, kho kho and other games have also been developed by considering requests.

All playgrounds are provided with lighting systems.
Nit has reportedly spent RS37 Crore for all works.
MLC Pravin DATKE has convinced to allocate funds for the development of facilities to water the playground.
NIT officials said, “The five member committees have been formed to verify the application received from the Sports Association, Club, NGOs etc.
Allotment will be carried out after completion of the process.
The application will be invited to the playground that does not go forward.” Joshi said, ” is a big development for the city because it will improve sports and players.
It will also come to save the association and sports club that has no choice but to be closed due to the lack of playground and facilities needed.
This playground has the potential to give birth to new sportsmen.

On the advice of the Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari, Nit has sent a list of playgrounds to NMC.
“Every playground will be named after those who have been given with defense medals or freedom fighters to mark the 75th warning of the country’s independence.
The process will begin soon.”
