New Delhi: Niti Aayog has suggested that the train must assign at least 20% of parking capacity at the train station or office complex to set up a bay of charging electric vehicles or battery charging stations and exchanges, and also install at least one point charging in each each step of the crossing level is manned and the train colony.
The proposal is part of the Think Tank government initiative to spread electric vehicles, especially filling infrastructure, and domestic manufacturing.
The policy design that is being discussed also recommends the supply of renewable energy to filling facilities in line with the train objectives to become “net-zero carbon emites” in 2030, the official source of the TI said.
Niti Aayog has suggested trains can be started with 123 train stations that have been rebuilt and then all suburban stations must have the provision of charging.
As part of the plan, it has been proposed that the train can realize that there is a significant scope to add to EV charging infrastructure in the list of public facilities at the main train station.
However, given the development of payment tools in this country, UPI or Fastag can be used for the purpose of remembering train infrastructure available throughout the country.
“The train station is the location of the landmark and they play a unique role in the entire transportation sector which makes it a strategic location to provide a public filling solution for EVs.
They function as important multi-capital transit nodes and thus, withdraw high traffic volume from various commuters, Taxis, freight forwarders, etc.
Plus, suburban train stations serve a large number of daily commuters and act as pick-up and drop the final connectivity points.
So, there will be charging requests from private vehicles and paratransit, “said an officer.
The government’s sources said remembering the relevance of battery exchange techniques, especially for two-wheeled and three-three, trains have also been asked to consider the operational requirements of the stack battery charging system.
