Mangaluru: With a view of reducing carbon footprint on campus, Nitk Suratshalk has launched another electronic vehicle, baptized as ‘vidhyug2.1’.
This will be used exclusively to send files or letters from administrative buildings to another block.
At present, employees are responsible for sending communication to various departments using their motorbikes running on fossil fuels to carry out their work.
For the next, they will use Vidhyug 2.1 for the same thing.
Pruthviraj U, Applied Assistant Professor, Mechanics and Hydraulics, Faculty of Association, System Design Center, Nitk Suratkal, said that Vidhyug 2.1 is an electric vehicle in the Vidyug series designed and developed for the submission section of Nitk Suratshal.
Vidyug 2.1 is ergonomically designed, taking into account the feedback from Vidhyug 2.0, with increased comfort, storage and driver utility.
PruthViraj said the role of the operator was acting as a point of communication between administration and departments and other institutional centers.
Dispatcher is responsible for providing orders, receiving requests, payroll processing and others.
Shipping must remain traveling between various departments at the Institute, traveling around 20 km, covering 14 engineering departments and 60 offices every day.
Dispatcher uses two-wheeled fuel consumption, and per day is 500 ml, accounting for 10kg carbon monoxide per year.
The same can be reduced to zero using vidhyug 2.1.
The 250W motor vehicle and 48V, which provides a range of around 45-50km, with a highest speed of 25Kmph and a nominal charging time of four to five hours.
Future plans taking into account efficiency, durability, comfort of the Vidyug series, a few more mini-scooters and e-scooters are planned through crowdfunding alumni.
Charging stations equipped with solar farms for the same thing are proposed on campus.
Students and staff will be able to charge e-scooter fees with cellular applications.
About 10 e-vehicle mobility will be charged at the docking station at a time.
“The team led by Pruthviraj has done hard work behind an electric vehicle.
It is very convenient to rise and environmentally friendly.
We want to expand services to all departments in the coming days, including visitors to campus,” said Prof.
